In loving, living memory, John Melançon 1928 – 2007
Rochester, New York, via Amtrak, with Fox.
Heather and Afam look like they are doing really well, even as they go through the stressful time of the two of them applying to law school and medical school simultaneously!
Heather fed us well-- a beautiful arrangement of hummos and carrots and salsa and chips and more, desert of dates and entirely fake wafers that I could have, and pasta the first night and vegan chili she somehow had waiting in their freezer.
I left both my wines there, I knew I was doing so and I know they will enjoy them... probably better than smuggling a bottle into the DrupalCamp hotel. Also gave Heather the great Guinness for Strength T-shirt from Mom or Jakob because she adored it, which while I like it that is a few notches over how much I like it!
Saw Jessica from Syracuse for one extra minute just as we were leaving the Greek restaurant, Agean or somesuch, Fox saw her, unfortunately after Heather and Afam were already outside and on their way to the car. We made it to the small and low-tech train station with a healthy ten minutes to spare to official departure time. The train schedule, including the 12 minute delay, was on a hand-arranged letter board. The delay was marked with crooked little arrows. I must note though that the information on this no-tech board was accurate, unlike all the electronic boards and loudspeaker announcements we've had at other stations...
