At the end of an article in which Mayor Bloomberg stated that protesters can stay in Zuccotti Park / Liberty Plaza, and then some he said / she said lazy reporting, Politico included this, only he said, extremely lazy reporting:

Brookfield Office Properties, the owner of the park, had no statement on Monday in light of Bloomberg’s comments. Last week, Brookfield said many of the protesters are ignoring basic park rules such as the ban on tents and sleeping bags. In the statement, the company added that the park has not been cleaned since Sept. 16 and sanitary conditions have “reached unacceptable levels.” Brookfield wrote that “we continue to work with the City of New York to address these conditions and restore the park to its intended purpose.”

I was just at the park. The protesters who are living there are keeping it very clean of even litter, let alone keeping it sanitary. There were two activists walking around with broom and dustbins.

Got to give Bloomberg credit for knowing NYC weather patterns... still if a hardcore dozen can build igloos to withstand the wind until we masses can return in the spring, that will help make history, no doubt.

OK while i'm on my soapbox the other key thing about Occupy Wall Street is that it is, materially if not consciously on the part of all participants (but i think pretty much all are), a recognition that debating on policy specifics (should corporations pay no taxes at all or their currently super-low taxes?) is much less important than a political or cultural/social shift.
