Visions Unite... with People Who Give a Damn?

Brilliant, far better branding just after discovering that the most valuable domain names we have (pwgd .com and .net) have been stolen out from under us by an incompetent or criminally-minded registrar and lax oversight on my part and therefore by domain hoarders.

Brought by a woman of many visions and a fair number of accomplishments also, Anjali Forber-Pratt, in an after-midnight brainstorming session with a friend of hers, a very congruent with PWGD, well, vision, about uniting people who give a damn. Without the cuss-word (or tragic domain history). AND with people of fantastic energy and ability and connections to push this project into being.

vision
the faculty or state of being able to see; a vivid mental image of the future
unite
come or bring together for a common purpose or action

They took the words right out of my mouth... read below, I didn't write that! Now united in this effort. (We're not only the founders, we're also clients!)

A website for visionary people to connect with others and collaborate.
www.visionunite.org

“What are you working on and what do you have to offer?”
It is literally a, “I have a vision” hotline. A basic membership survey, who are you, what is your vision, what organization(s) are you working with/for/founded etc., what orgs do you have partnerships/aware of etc., who do you know, what I am looking for, what I can offer, you enter your own key words too related to your vision and your areas of interest, area of impact (college campus, domestic, int’l)

Individual can come and type in, “this is what I want to do” and then you discover, hey that exists, you should talk to so and so, talk to this person, here are grants that may be related to your topic. Massively searchable. How do we do this?

For example, one vision of mine is: A world that is physically and socially accessible and accepting of all individuals with disabilities across all domains of life including education, employment, and healthcare. By doing so, individuals with disabilities will be empowered to take advantage of all opportunities in the world that otherwise would not have been possible.

Another more specific vision is, to create a networking community for families with physical disabilities to connect with each other, with adults living with physical disabilities in their community. Wouldn’t it be great to find someone who has already done it say at a college level and then you collaborate and make it at the int’l level? Instead of feeling lost and overwhelmed by trying to make these visions reality being just one person, some way to collaborate with others and find out what other’s are doing with similar ideas or people who know people who could help you out.
