Now, I've voted for no chance candidates in every election, but I can't believe that more than 17,000 people in Missouri, virtually all white I am sure and who think of themselves as progressive, couldn't figure out how important it was this election be voting with their black brothers and sisters in the state, what one more state in the middle of the country means for a mandate? For shame.

Worth a recount, but there may not be enough uncounted and spoiled ballots in Kansas City and St. Louis to make up that deficit... though there very well might be.

On the other hand Bob Barr looks to be the reason McCain lost North Carolina, so our broken system lacking any form of instant runoff cut both ways this year.

And the hateful proposition to take away basic rights from homosexual couples can be rolled back itself in four years with a decent organizing effort. So close, and just too much fear and hatred and just plain meanspiritedness... frightening.

As I knew and have been mentioning to others

There may be no issue with a clearer generational as-time-goes-on advantage than queer rights.

California's Proposition 8 by age bears that out again:

This is outreach, outreach, outreach in my estimation– an easier fight than battling over resources (control of the common wealth, material and intellectual, of humanity) but still a frighteningly hard and necessary fight for basic rights and mere formal equality for a significant minority of every population.
