K leaving

Made a recipe from Dani's twitter that came in at the perfect time

Tomatoes, red onions, cut into thick slivers. Olive oil, garlic salt, pepper, herbs de provence. Roast @ 300 for 90min; you will taste LOVE.

K liked very much.

Code sprint at Acquia

All day, quite nice, though the remaining bugs for Drupal 7 are almost all... and universally regarded as... hard.

Went out to dinner afterward, came home, had another dinner with K

What? OK.

"I've said repeatedly that i will never resent anyone or anything for something i do... but on occasion i will resent something someone does not let me do."

Nope, can't even resent that. She's too good at communicating, even if it takes a bit sometimes.

I have so much to learn.

K on chiggers

I hate feeling unmitigated hatred toward anything. A species, a person. I like to find one thing [that i don't hate completely about that thing].

Chiggers
don't actually burrow into people
they are the larval stage of [field mite]

in the adult form they eat mosquito larva

the coevolutionary fascinating part
they have no jaws, no proboscis for sucking
they scrape and let out a little
skin cells are liquid, their meal is right there, they can't get it into their bodies
except that your immune system tries to isolate it by building a wall around the liquified flesh

Finding a dive bar in Boston

Sunday, bringing A back to the bus, she and K vetoed going to a park to listen to the Boston Pops do ragtime and such, and wanted to find a dive bar for the last few hours of the weekend visit.

A found the place on Yelp, free pool (it had the pay mechanism but the side keeping people from getting to the balls was ripped off– also the cue ball rolled into the main area), clear local regulars, and not a rich snob in site.

South of South Station. On West Broadway, down around maybe E street.

The cove something, but the sign over the door mostly says GUINNESS.

Stardust

A most excellent movie.

Kasey says it's the only movie she can watch without any problems with the representation of male and female characters.

the women are the only ones who know what's going on– that's the witches, for the most part, but

Two days in Natick, and off to another wedding (my cousin's)

Thursday: Dan left with Cassidy and Xavier to pick up Eva and Little John at the airport, and went straight to the Cape.

I finished fixing the hot water tank output pipe. Had to buy new parts, they did not have one size up in the plastic slip-tubes like Dan said they would, but i bought metal slip-and-grip style tubes, cut the copper tubing we have using his awesome tool, and shoved the big, full, old water heater several inches back to make the pipes line up. Amazingly, it worked, and isn't leaking.

Also, walked the dog and made it to the post office.

Stories get me

It's official. Any movie can make me cry.

I mean, i didn't actually, but i'm working and just listening to Cars, the Incredible Hulk, and Bolt, which my nephews are watching in the back of the Toyota FJ and Dan is driving us all up to Massachusetts.

(And only Cars and Bolt tugged the old heartstrings.)

More learnin' from the WV Melançon compound

Continued to be very impressed by the garden and the canning / jarring / using of what it produces.

And good kids. Mostly, heh.

And finally:

The family that has nerf wars together, stays together. Or at least is better prepared for the coming zombie (or other) apocalypse.

in West Virginia

The fog this morning - initially only in the distance - makes one direction off the hill look as if there were nothing but sky behind it. And for some reason that made me really want that to be the case, to be on top of a mountain, where a spectacular view would be coming, i guess.

Wonderful weekend at Skillshare

Fri - K and i returned from the cape.

D's alive and she has a dumpster!

Put our carpet in it in a midnight operation.

Then i went in the Insight to pick up A, only 5 minutes late from her Chinatown bus's slightly late arrival.

Got home alive and over the weekend it was all Boston Skillshare, excellent.

First evening dinner at Addis Red Sea Ethiopian in Boston.

Second evening dinner went for Venezuelan

At Grandpa's on cape with K

Grandpa took us out to dinner on Monday night at the Bookstore, Tuesday at The Lobster Pot, Wednesday K cooked Grandpa fantastic meat, mushroom, red pepper, red onion, baby tomato, and garlic kebabs. Well i can't vouch for the meat being great but Grandpa's a tough critic.

K cut grass, watered the plants, went to the dump - transfer station - with me.

We walked with Rusty and F to the shack but came back and swam near the house, at the other end of the marsh, because there were a couple fishermen standing in the main swimming spot.

Beautiful weather, but not unseasonably warm.

Or should i say

Eating well and taking breaks thanks to K, feel great.

Discovering what happens when an OCD and an ADD person merge.

I stop to clean up trash when i should be focusing on another task. K wants me to get a tatoo with FOCUS spelled backwards in big letters so i see it when i look in a mirror.

Thinking back on one of the last times G broke up with me, and wandering out in the rain and ending up at and ordering a drink in a gay bar. Classic. (It was the one where Andrew worked.)
